San Francisco dedicated Valentine’s day to the legendary Tony Bennett. His song ‘I Left My Heart in San Francisco’ inspired the city’s iconic heart project.
<3 it.

Jeff Wirth’s blog Interactive Apple examines interactive performance and other engaging activities going on around New York City. Jeff is a renegade scholar and inter-actor who created the incredibly innovative (but now defunct) Interactive Performance Laboratory at the University of Central Florida-Orlando, which developed ways people could use storytelling and improv to do everything from crisis simulation and healthcare training, to interactive corporate scavenger hunts and employee training.
So he knows his stuff. Check out his adventures in NYC!

What does a plastic spoon say about our oil addiction in America? Interesting Max Temkin poster and Jeff McIntire-Strasburg blog.

Looks like Loss Cat is back in action in Inman Park (Taken with instagram)
I’m soooo excited about this, I can’t even speak! Spoiler alert: It’s not a real missing cat poster, but if you don’t know that it pulls at all sorts of heartstrings and funnybones as you read about this dirty, medicine needing cat with “not tags” and who “Does not call when come.” It’s one of the viral works of Atlanta-based artist R. Land, whose distinctive surrealistic pop art makes the city more interesting. BTW- my favorite poster of his has always been the one for “Yuppie Shitoles.”

This was quite possibly the funniest and most intriguing e-mail I got all day. Entitled “Paint, Sketch, or Draw … Blood! This Saturday!” this show down of bad-ass artists from the World Wide Artist Federation (WWAF) intrigues me, although the dates on the website are all wonky. Will Dynomite be any match for the mad styles of The Hoochie Coochie Man? And who is that masked Exacto exactly? I won’t go expecting to see the next Renoir, but Picasso? Maybe- he was known for his impromptu creations. What is exciting is to see visual artists, who tend to be the most solitary and recalcitrant (read: unsocial) group of creatives, banding together to do something collaborative, active and off-the-cuff, harnessing the energy of hip-hop and poetry slams and — yes, professional wrestling! That might just get my lazy butt out and about this weekend. Thanks Occasional Superstar for the invite! (now correct the dates in your e-mails on on the website so we know what’s really up when!)

The homespun habit of gnoming up ones garden gave rise to kidnappers forcing them to travel and send photographs home. After all that forced labor, they now have a mind of their own. This is a truly weird and delightful blog of one gnome’s journey through life:
I stood there frozen. I was pondering the exact function of these strange forms, i am told - “toilets,” as people came in and out around me. The easiest way to explain all this : we don’t have bathrooms in the garden.

Attention artists: Need a tool to spotlight your work? You don’t need to know HTML, you just need to start your free online portfolio at Carbonmade. The brainchild of an artist and a friend who could code, it’s a great way for Web designers, photographers, fine and graphic artists to show off what they can do without having to invest heavily. And if you’re looking to hire someone creative, it’s a great place to browse for talent.

One cannot be an American by going around saying one is an American. One must feel America, like America, love America and then work.
