What is sustainable seafood?

If you ever find yourself traveling to the North Georgia mountains, be sure to stop in for dinner at Goin’ Coastal on West Main Street in Canton.

The independent restaurant owners of fine dining restaurants in Georgia (Also checkout their Canton sister Downtown Kitchen, and the additional Goin’ Coastal location in Atlanta’s Virginia Highlands area) are committed to delivering only the freshest, finest, and local ingredients in their daily-changing menus.

Goin’ Coastal proudly displays their moniker, “a sustainable seafood joint.” This means they feature only the highest quality seafood from sources, either fished or farmed that can exist over the long term without compromising species’ survival or the health of the ecosystem.

With over 75% of the world fisheries either fully fished or over fished, sustainable fishing practices are not only environmentally responsible, they yield the highest quality seafood; and Goin’ Coastal boasts their commitment to enhance the seafood marketplace for all consumers.

Be sure to make reservations because the space inside is limited, which naturally keeps the atmosphere warm and intimate. And did I mention they have an open kitchen too? I recommend everything on the menu, because I know it will always be fresh and prepared with an attention to detail. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention trying the gator tail as an appetizer; be sure order oysters on the half shell (the biggest I’ve ever seen); and don’t forget to sample their homemade hushpuppies!
